Beijing is rapidly revitalizing its consumer market and global tourism appeal through a multifaceted upgrade — seamlessly blending its rich culinary heritage and global gastronomy with cutting-edge retail innovations and enhanced services for inbound travelers.

The city recently launched a massive promotional season for its iconic Beijing roast duck along the bustling Wangfujing Street.

More than 600 restaurants from over 30 renowned catering brands have joined forces to transform this traditional dish into a dynamic cultural property.

Time-honored establishments like Quanjude and Bianyifang are showcasing their national intangible cultural heritage roasting techniques to a new generation of diners.

Bianyifang, boasting a history of over 600 years, is introducing creative crossovers such as roast duck pizzas with handmade crusts.

Meanwhile, modern culinary innovators such as Da Dong are pushing the boundaries of flavor with their signature "super lean" crispy roast duck.

Leading brands are also introducing globalized variations that feature oriental mustard, Thai sweet and sour chili, and Mediterranean aromas.

This initiative responds to a growing digital consumption trend, with local data showing a steady increase in online searches and sales for the beloved dish.

Recent industry reports indicate that over 1,600 roast duck outlets in Beijing are engaging in online operations, marking a significant year-on-year growth.

While dine-in experiences remain the primary consumption scenario, lightweight options like single-serving or half-portion roast ducks have become highly popular in the food delivery sector.

To further engage younger demographics and tourists, the campaign introduced a special passport program.

Visitors are encouraged to collect stamps across various participating restaurants to win exclusive rewards, effectively turning dining into an interactive city exploration.

The promotional materials also feature curated cultural tourism routes, guiding consumers to explore the city's central axis and fashionable districts after enjoying their meals.
