Students from Ruian High School visit the museum to hear the story behind China's national flag on Aug 4, 2023. CHINA DAILY

The museum houses themed galleries including the hall of the birth of the national flag, the hall of flag knowledge, and the hall of flag glory. Every year on Sept 19, National Defense Education Day, students come to the museum to visit the bronze statue of Zeng Liansong, designer of China's national flag — a fitting occasion to reflect on the flag's history.

More than a showcase of revolutionary education, the museum is a concrete expression of Ruian's civic spirit. Flag-raising ceremonies have become a tradition at the museum on important occasions, while lectures on the national flag and revolutionary-themed study programs draw large numbers of local residents, students, and tourists.
