GUANGZHOU -- A 2,000-drone light show illuminated the night sky over Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong province, on Sunday, kicking off celebrations marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army Air Force, which falls on Nov 11.

The show, the opening event of a series of celebrations, featured 15 themed displays highlighting the PLA Air Force's transformation and development in the new era, showcasing its iconic weaponry and equipment, as well as advances in integrated operational capabilities.

Further events are planned in the coming days, including a flyover of a section of the Great Wall in North China's Tianjin municipality by the PLA Air Force's Bayi Aerobatic Team, and a performance over a park in Changchun, the capital of Northeast China's Jilin province, by an aerobatics team from the Aviation University of Air Force.

The events aim to showcase the PLA Air Force's commitment to safeguarding China's air and space security and its determination to continue advancing its capabilities, air force sources said.
