Although the first motion picture was introduced to the country in 1896, China's film industry truly began with the shooting of The Difficult Couple (Nanfunanqi) (1913), the first Chinese feature movie. After a century of developments, Chinese filmmakers are making their mark worldwide- spurred on by the success of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Wohu Canglong) (2000), which won an Oscar in 2000. Beijing premieres most Chinese films, and more cinemas are showing original foreign movies.
