A giant rubber duck created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman will come to Beijing in September during Beijing Design Week 2013, Hofman said on Saturday in Beijing at a news conference.
The inflatable duck, which is 10 meters high, has attracted hundreds of thousands of locals and tourists in the month it has spent on Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor, where it arrived in May.
The organizing committee of the Beijing Design Week indicated it will strive to protect the intellectual property rights of the art works.
Zeng Hui, deputy director of the organizing committee, said the city government still hasn’t decided where the rubber duck to swim during the event which is scheduled to be open during the National Day holiday early October.
As the organizer began to add related trade as new element of the art show last year, “any commercial activities involving the rubber duck will be launched in accordance with the designer Hofman,” he said.
According to Hofman, the duck has swum to 16 cities since 2008 to date while his overall design for it lasted five years between 2001 to 2006.
