The Chengdu Motor Show 2013 will open from Aug 30 to Sept 8 at Chengdu’s Century City New International Convention & Exhibition Center, according to the organizing committee, which held a press conference in Beijing yesterday.
The 10-day event is expected to draw in more than 600,000 participants. The auto show will, for the first time, occupy all the nine halls of the exhibition center this year, showcasing passenger, second-hand and luxury cars. The total exhibition area will reach 140,000 square meters.
Many car producers have expanded their display area, with 35 brands each occupying more than 1,000 square meters. Seven car makers have individual areas approaching 2,000 square meters, including Dongfeng Yueda Kia, Beijing Hyundai, SAIC Motor, BMW and Infiniti.
The companies will also display new models that haven’t gone on the market yet, said the organizing committee.
“We will strive to show the modern auto industry from various angles to demonstrate the progress and innovation that has been made in the industry,” said an official with the organizing committee.
The car market in West China has shown tremendous growth potential. Many car makers are using the Chengdu auto show as an opportunity to pursue fast development in the future, said the official.
The organizing committee has also added a few bells and whistles to the show. It opened an official micro blog and WeChat account so participants can get information at their fingertips.
At the same time, the organizing committee will set up a news center, visitor lounge and many information desks to improve on-site services and offer a better visitor experience.
The show has received consistent support from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Auto Sub-Council and the Society of Automotive Engineers of China over the years. It has finally evolved into one of the top four auto shows across the country.
