The Beijing Garden Exposition has attracted many visitors from home and abroad, especially during the National Day holiday. To improve service efficiency, the garden expo committee decided to offer volunteer services to help visitors during the National Day holiday.
During the holiday, more than 50 volunteers were arranged to act as tour guides to explain the expo's design ideas and cultural background as well as highlight various attractions. To select qualified volunteers, all candidates must take part in an exposition knowledge competition before becoming volunteers. Moreover, the garden expo committee conducted lessons every morning before the opening of the expo.
In addition to the tour guide services, other volunteer services like photographs and car-parking guidance were also available. Though the service jobs were tiring, many volunteers donated their time.
