Harsher penalties in certain robberies

Criminals who rob the elderly, minors, pregnant women, the handicapped and those caring for babies will face harsher punishment, in line with the latest judicial interpretation on robbery, Xinhua News Agency reported on Monday. The Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate issued the judicial interpretation on Sunday, updating 10 situations that should be seriously punished in robbery cases. The interpretation took effect on Monday.
