China Mobile Group Beijing Co announced the expansion of its fourth-generation (4G) network in the capital on Dec 5, the day after China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued 4G licenses to three Chinese telecom operators, including China Mobile.
Beijing's 4G network, which covers East, West and North Third Ring Road as well as Liangguang Road in the south, has been extended to Fourth Ring Road, North Fifth Ring Road, Shijingshan district, Yizhuang township and Garden Expo Park. Residents in those areas can experience the high speed mobile network.
"The 4G mobile phone signal will automatically switch to 3G or 2G in areas where there is no 4G network coverage. User communication won’t be interrupted," a representative from the company said. China Mobile also launched several commercial test packages to provide people with different pricing and data traffic options. They can choose from those packages according to their own demands.
