Actor Deng Chao is working on his directorial debut, a romantic comedy starring himself and actress Yang Mi with the working title Break-Up Guru. The film is based on a hit stage drama from 2010. The original playwright Yu Baimei adapted the script for film, but the storyline will be very different. A graduate of the Central Academy of Drama, Deng is best known for his role as an ambitious entrepreneur in Peter Chan's American Dream in China. Break-Up Guru is expected to be released in early 2014.
