Visa-free visitors hit the capital

Almost 14,000 foreign transit passengers have used Beijing's 72-hour visa-free policy since it took effect on Jan 1, according to Beijing Capital International Airport on Tuesday.

The number is less than expected due to "insufficient publicity", an airport official said. The policy allows tourists from 51 countries to stay in the capital for three days without a visa.
