Guo Lishuang, a member of the CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee, wants to promote electric vehicles in Beijing.
"Car exhaust is a major source of air pollution in Beijing. A good way to improve air quality is to replace motor vehicles with electric ones," said Guo.
"I suggest developing the electric vehicle industry and promoting the transformation and upgrade of the auto industry. Electric vehicles can be first applied in public transportation and sanitation departments, then in special vehicles and taxis," she added.
