The National Research Center of Contemporary Art has teamed up with 10 pioneering artists in the digital art field to present their latest 2-D and 3-D animation works, providing a glimpse into the creation and research of digital art in recent years. Digital art has emerged as an important genre since the 1980s and is often featured at international art fairs. Participating artists include Cui Xiuwen, a vanguard photographer and video artist whose debut video work Washroom is hailed as a critical account of social transformation in the late 1990s, and Feng Mengbo, a graduate from the Central Academy of Fine Arts' engraving department, who became one of the earliest Chinese artists focusing on how the cyber world influences people.
