Broken water pipes create hole in road

A deep hole 10 meters wide opened up on a road in Chaoyang district at about 4 pm on Sunday, Beijing News reported. The subsidence was caused by broken water pipes, a construction worker said. No injuries or damage to vehicles were reported. The accident led to traffic diversions and halted water supplies in the neighborhood, affecting about 500 residents.
