Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com, also known as Jingdong, will sell its own mobile phone numbers beginning with "170" next month, Beijing Evening News reported on Friday.
Jingdong unveiled its virtual communications operator brand "JD Mobile" on March 31. The telecom service is currently being tested and will be formally launched in May this year. The company generated its first mobile phone number and made its first successful phone call as a mobile virtual network operator on March 21.
"Jingdong has formulated its operating strategy. We will first construct the basic facilities, and then provide more user-friendly services through research and development of technology. In addition, we will allow them to enjoy free calls through big data mining," a representative of JD Mobile said.
