Beijing courts began a judicial auction of seized items on commercial websites such as Taobao.com, China's top online retailer, on April 24, 2014, according to the Beijing Higher People's Court, xinhuanet.com reported on Thursday.
Fengtai District People's Court and Beijing Second Intermediate People's Court will start online auctions of a villa in Fengtai district and two apartments in Tongzhou district on sf.taobao.com at 10 am on May 13.
"The online auction is part of our reform measures. We will listen to suggestions and feedback from the public to improve our work," said Zhai Jingmin, vice president of the Beijing Higher People's Court.
Online judicial auctions have many advantages. They help to save commission fees and cut the costs of the auction. In addition, information can be released on several online platforms, allowing more people to participate in the auction, enhancing its efficiency. In addition, with remote real-time monitoring over the internet, online auctions are more open and transparent.
