Zhongguancun Science Park will showcase its latest achievements of a modern service industry at the 3rd China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), which will be held at the China National Convention Center from May 28 to June 1.
The park will set up an exhibition area of 324 square meters to demonstrate how technology innovations, including R&D service outsourcing, Internet finance and big data can transform and upgrade traditional service industries.
The park will also hold a Digital Content Business Convention on May 29. Operators, platform providers, R&D institutions and investment institutions from home and abroad will provide exhibiting enterprises with professional services through private and open negotiations, as well as project promotions.
Meanwhile, the convention will set up 25 private areas for Zhongguancun companies to have one-on-one talks. Renowned enterprises, including Google, the CCTV Animation Channel, New Oriental and China Broadcast Corporation, will seek business opportunities during the convention.
In addition, a trade forum will take place on May 31 to promote cooperation between enterprises from Zhongguancun and ASEAN countries.
Zhongguancun is taking the lead in upgrading its industrial structure and developing a high-tech service industry.
It now has the largest modern service cluster in the country, and an industrial structure centered on modern services is taking shape in the park.
In July 2011, the ministries of finance, commerce, and science and technology, as well as the National Development and Reform Commission and Beijing municipal government, jointly signed a three-year cooperation agreement to found a pilot modern service innovation demonstration zone at the Zhongguancun Science Park.
This has greatly boosted the growth of the park. The effects of industrial restructuring have already begun to show.
The revenue of modern service industries exceeded 2 trillion yuan ($320.2 billion) last year, an increase of 53 percent over what it was in 2011, accounting for 66.7 percent of the park’s total revenue.
CIFTIS provides an international platform for Zhongguancun enterprises to demonstrate their development of modern services in recent years.
