The sentence of a former science official who was convicted of accepting bribes was upheld by Beijing Higher People's Court on Tuesday.
Xu An, 56, former vice-director of the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, received a sentence of 10 years imprisonment in February on the charge of accepting 100,000 yuan ($15,986) of bribes related to a construction project.
Xu appealed after the verdict was issued. The Beijing Higher People's Court upheld the sentence during Xu's final trial on Tuesday, Beijing Morning Post reported.
When Xu accepted the money from a businessman surnamed Liu at his office in October 2009, the transaction was filmed by Liu with a hidden camera. The businessman revealed the video to the anti-graft authorities after he failed to win another contract from Xu in April 2013.
