Beijing has upgraded its security presence in metro stations with Belgian Shepherd dogs trained to assist regular patrol officers. The dogs are specially trained to search passengers for gasoline as part of anti-terrorism efforts. During this year's APEC meeting in Beijing, 20 gasoline-sniffing dogs will participate in the metro station patrol. By the end of this year, the city is expected to complete the construction of a base that will house 200 patrol dogs.
