Looking China 2014, a DV project themed "The City, The People", was launched at Beijing Normal University (BNU) on July 8, xinhuanet.com reported on Wednesday.
A total of 59 foreign students from eight famous colleges and universities and seven countries will take part in the event. The contestants are asked to submit a short film to show authentic Chinese culture by visiting five Chinese cities - Beijing, Tianjin, Suzhou, Dalian and Changsha - with their Chinese counterparts.
BNU chairperson Liu Chuansheng hopes that each participant can record what they see through the lens to show the world the value of Chinese culture.
"In the next two weeks, you will feel the hospitality and diligence of Chinese people. I hope your works can help promote the communication of different cultures," said Huang Huilin, dean of the Academy for International Communication of Chinese Culture (AICCC) at the project's opening ceremony.
AICCC started the annual project in 2011 with the aim of presenting Chinese culture from a foreigner's perspective.
