In an attempt to curb "Chinese style of crossing the road" and promote safety, a one-month anti-jaywalking campaign has been launched in Beijing's Chaoyang district on July 8, 2014, fawan.com.cn reported on Tuesday.
Volunteers will be on duty at seven intersections at peak-time to guide pedestrians and cyclists to cross the road.
However, 13 people were caught jaywalking in a one minute and 55-seconds-long red light when volunteers left.
One volunteer said he had to grab a young man's arm to stop him from jay walking after the offender ignored the warning of the volunteer.
