Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC) presented 119 cars for the third APEC conference to be held in China. The package included 50 sedans, 40 commercial cars, 15 passenger cars and 14 other automobiles.
APEC, short for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, is the largest, most influential economic organization in the region. Its previous meetings have always been the subject of international attention.
The official car delivery ceremony was held on August 5. It was attended by BAIC, associated APEC sponsors, and other leaders.
All the enterprises involved — BAIC, Beijing Automobile and Beijing New Energy Automobile — have signed contracts ensuring the quality and standard of their cars.
It is noteworthy that BAIC's new energy vehicles will play a key role in this year's conference. Environmental protection is at the top of APEC's agenda, and in a world with limited resources and an abundance of environmental challenges, green development is the way to go.
BAIC was a latecomer to the energy car field, but it has been accelerating with rapid promotion and industrialization, determined to flesh out its energy vehicles.
The company has also been on the Fortune 500 list for two consecutive years. It sits in a pivotal position in the Chinese auto industry, several steps into international development.
Li Zhili, BAIC's deputy secretary, says that the auto company is displaying their strength at APEC 2014. By using this platform as an opportunity to enhance their brand name and influence, BAIC is hoping to more easily springboard into the international community.
