She started to promote the integration of agriculture and tourism, bringing more income to farmers. He Lijuan promoted the development of Tangquanxianggu valley and the construction of Zihaixiangdi Ranch, which could develop its cultural industry but also its agricultural creativity.
Also, in order to push forward the construction of Simatai folk village, she established a cooperative promotion and turned folk villages into country hotels. The folk village is operated with consistency, ranging from planning, marketing, and reception, to pricing.
As a Party Chief at grassroots level, He Lijuan is good at administrative management, and she has a sharp business brain as well. Her keen insight on exploring business opportunities has brought a new source for villagers’ incomes.
She called for the branding of a unique specialty in each village. Taking Beitai village as an example, it has a long history of green onion planting. The local product is so famous that it was served to the royal families in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). As the development of the village’s tourism, the demand for green onions has been increasing.
He Lijuan held symposiums to encourage the villagers to produce "Beitai royal green onions". On average, the green onion planting increased villagers' income by nearly 1,000 yuan per year.
Then, her branding idea was echoed by more villages. Yangzhuangzi village started to plant winter jujube, and Beidianzi village started to plant grains. The modernized agriculture brings income for farmers.
"She is an official with great sincerity, and meticulousness as well as a realistic style and earnest spirit in work," said Liu Ying, one of He Lijuan’s superiors, who made comments about her.
The villagers are grateful for her contribution to increase their income and improve their lives. They appreciate her amiability and easy-going personality.
But He Lijuan believes that what she has done was her duty and the interest of the people is the top priority of her dream.
