A 42-year-old suspect in three 1997 robberies that led to two deaths was found after his girlfriend reported him missing, Beijing Times reported.
Pei Fenghai, from Hebei province, was tried in Beijing on Monday. After the robberies, Pei allegedly fled to the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, where he had a girlfriend. The woman wanted to get married, but because he could not do so without an ID card, Pei left without saying goodbye, the newspaper reported. In an effort to find him, the woman reported his disappearance to the police, who discovered that Pei was a criminal suspect and captured him.
