Beijing Gehua CATV Network, the cable TV operator in the Chinese capital, said at a news conference in Beijing on Nov 27 that it had finished the first phase of its cloud computing platform strategy and launched its new products for such a platform.
These new products, including an upgraded version of its cable TV service and video games, and a more intelligent set-top box, have all adopted cloud computing technology. And its platform has the largest number of users of the cloud computing technology in the cable TV industry in China.
The Gehua Cloud Platform, which not only offers high definition interactive digital TV services, is also compatible with Gehua’s cloud-based set-top boxes,
In 2011, Gehua launched a strategy for the development of new media and began to follow the trend of cloud computing technology. In 2013, it designed the Gehua Cloud Platform with innovative utilization of cloud computing technology in the cable TV industry. The first phase of its application finished in November, 2014.
The platform can integrate a wide range of services, such as a portal, content aggregation management of content and applications, and internet safety checks. Users can get easier access to video games, cable TV programs, and storage.
Gehua’s cloud platform is an all-media application platform which is based on the Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) network, and can be used in both internet and the mobile internet, as well as helping to integrate traditional media and new media. It is an open platform which it is planned to integrate with other industries to provide a better service for users in the future.
