Haidian's 22 community neighborhoods raised 220 million yuan ($35 million) last year and completed 722 projects for 516 communities.
Haidian's social work committee has urged its neighborhood committees to step up their publicity work to raise public awareness and satisfaction, and take various steps to keep projects open to the public.
The committee has made best use of the Haidian practical public work online interaction platform to interact with residents and get their feedback. It has also supervised practical projects that are in force.
Zhongguancun community, for one, has raised public interest and participation through improved work transparency. The neighborhood's community services platform (www.5izgc.com) and various practical work information on community LED screens have kept the public updated of the development of practical projects.
Malianwa community has volunteered for public supervision of its practical community projects. Residents were able to put forward their suggestions in street meetings and community committees, or write their appeals and put them in opinion boxes.
The practical projects mainly focused on fostering community construction, civil administration, social security, municipal landscape scenery renovation and environmental construction.
Various neighborhoods have made use of their own resources and worked on innovation projects such as establishing vehicle autonomous committee in Zizhuyuan community and carrying out national physique monitoring at communities in Beitaipingzhuang. They also engaged in founding Manchu cultural work station at Shuguang neighborhood.
Some common community problems have been tackled after overall street planning. The Wanshou neighborhood has inquired with many enterprises to help find a solution to the issue of demands for apartments for the elderly from various communities.
A total of 10 million yuan was donated by enterprises and other units and spent on building nursing homes for the elderly. To date, the Wandong Sunshine Apartment for the Elderly has already opened.
Haidian neighborhood has carried out practical projects to meet public needs. It adjusted 41 projects originally launched at the beginning of 2014 and settled on 71 practical projects after seeking public opinions.
All these projects revolved around difficulties and hot issues concerning the public and involved more than 36 million yuan in investment. Currently, all projects that are underway run smoothly.
In 2015, social work committee will work with relevant departments to do field inspection and research and conduct performance evaluations of practical work by all neighborhoods involved. The committee has so far asked all neighborhoods to carry out at least one practical project for each community this year. Various communities currently work on launching new practical projects.
