Beijing has 150 major scenic spots that saw 4.72 million visits during the three-day Tomb-sweeping Holiday, Xinhuanet has reported, quoting the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development.
The 4.72 million visits were still 10-percent lower than that for the last-year's same period and the city's tourism development commission explained that tourists looking for relaxed travel become rational and choosing more outside trips or suburban areas instead of just traditional tourist sites becomes one of their options.
At the same time, 11 of the city parks attracted 1.9 million visitors who came to see the cherry, apricot, and peach blossoms as the spring is perfect time for people to enjoy a flower sight in bright sunshine.
This coming week will also have late cherry blossom in Yuyuantan Park, with tulips in Zhongshan Park, peonies and Chinese herbaceous peonies coming a little later in April and early May, and the Orychophragmus violaceus at Temple of Heaven Park around mid-May.
The city's Haidian district had 671,300 visitors, Huairou had 267,000, and Changping, 150,000 at major sight spots, on April 4-5.
