A higher court recently upheld a three-year prison sentence imposed on the former director of the library at Beijing Sport University, surnamed Liu.
He was sentenced in 2010 for embezzling 18,500 yuan ($3,000) of public funds allocated for buying books. Liu had appealed against the first judgment.
