Established in Zhongguancun in January 2000, Baidu is now the largest Chinese search engine and the largest Chinese language website in the world. The company takes up more than 80 percent of the search engine market in China.
The company has more than 17,000 employees worldwide, with thousands of research and development engineers.
Baidu was the first Chinese company ever listed on the NASDAQ, in 2005.
The Financial Times has included Baidu in the list of the top 10 global Chinese brands. Baidu was the youngest company and the only internet company on the list.
