Parisian style
Renowned Studio Harcourt Paris held a photography exhibition as part of China World Mall's event 2015 Style Must Go On. The exhibition shows the classic black-and-white photographs of movie stars and celebrities since the studio's founding in 1934. Visitors can have their pictures taken at the exhibition. French Ambassador to China Maurice Gourdault-Montagne and Chinese actress Sun Qian (pictured) attended the event.
Design week
The Beijing Design Week organizing committee announced that this year's event in October will focus on smart city, environmental sustainability and design commerce. Design services will be offered for the first time, providing financial services, branding expertise and international exchange for designer entrepreneurs. Beijing Design Week is an annual event that promotes design talents and consumption. It was first held in 2011.
Mood and object
Six Chinese designers are jointly exhibiting in Milan University as part of the ongoing Milan Design Week. Titled Mood and Object, the exhibition explores the connection between feelings and things. The designers are Ruan Hao, Lin Xueming, Chen Yaoguang, Zhu Pei, Jiang Feng and Yang Dongjiang. A seminar was held at the opening to discuss the industrialization of design. The exhibition was curated by Yang, deputy director of Academy of Arts and Design at Tsinghua University. The exhibition runs until April 26.
Wigging out
Chinese wig manufacturer Rebecca put on an art exhibition in 798 Art Zone in Beijing recently. The exhibition creates characters from the Western fairy tales, highlighting all styles of wigs. Actress and brand spokesperson Fan Bingbing (pictured) attended the event wearing a bob wig. Fan encouraged women to explore different styles with wigs.
History of a brand
Louis Vuitton Series 2 - Past, Present, Future, a reinterpretation of the brand's 2015 spring summer ready-to-wear show, ended in Louis Vuitton Maison in the China World Mall earlier this month. The multimedia exhibition shows how Nicolas Ghesquiere, artistic director for women's collections at Louis Vuitton, developed his ideas for the collection. It traced the history of the brand and explored its future possibilities.
Sharks move to Moscow
Parkview Arts Action recently announced that On Sharks and Humanity, a contemporary Chinese art exhibition, will open at the Ekaterina Cultural Foundation in Moscow on May 28. The exhibition explores the relationship between sharks and mankind to raise awareness of shark protection. It presents works from 20 contemporary artists from China, Russia, Monaco, the United States and Spain. The exhibition was previously hosted at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. It will return to Beijing on Aug 20.
Next big things
Nine young, independent designers showcased their 2015 autumn/winter collections in Fashion Now, a two-day event in Beijing. Ricostru based the show on the image of nomadic girls in the snow. Evening illustrated different shades of gray with wool, leather, silk and cotton. Also on the runway are Vmajor and Youz. Vega Zaishi Wang, Huajiastudio, M essential, Micartsy and Veeco Zhao showed in a static exhibition.
