June 8 marked the beginning of training for the national short-track speed skating team who spent their time learning from their predecessors and their experience at the Winter Olympics.
Team members got a look at an exhibit at Beijing Sports University that included paintings, calligraphy, poems, and seals. All the works at the exhibition were based on stories of the Chinese winners of 12 gold medals at the last four Winter Games.
The exhibit is intended to show the fighting spirit of the Chinese Olympians to inspire newcomers and get them to work harder for glory in the future. The team members did indeed express their strong expectations for China's bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics.
They said they hope to make their own effort to support the bid, with Olympic champion Zhou Yang saying she looks forward to taking part in a Winter Olympics here at home.
Li Yan, the team's coach, said what they are preparing for the next Winter Olympic Games and that she believes her team members can get some inspiration from the exhibits.
