The city of Beijing reports that new energy vehicle production exceeded 11,000 during this year's Jan - July period, or 3.2 times that of the same last year period.
In the backdrop of economic transition and relocation of non-capital functions, Beijing's industries grew slowly, with industrial added value output increasing by only 1.2 percent, 1.4 percent lower than last year.
But, the capital's emerging industries, represented by new energy vehicles, have seen higher growth than other industries with value added output growing 4.5 percent year-on-year, or 3.3-percent higher than the city's average for the period. In addition, the value added output of new energy vehicles increased 55.6 percent, a rise of 45 percent over last year.
To promote its new energy vehicles, Beijing has been looking at policies based on demand and car re-charging sites.
