On May 31, the Light Entrepreneurship Promotion Center of the China Overseas-Educated Scholars Development Foundation (COSDF) held a press conference to announce the opening of its start-up market, which is intended to enhance support for mass innovation and entrepreneurship.
Light Entrepreneurship is so new that it has no accurate definition. Generally, it refers to an emerging entrepreneurial model with low in-put, low risk, various forms, low entry barriers and high return, according to Ma Yue, executive director of COSDF’s Light Entrepreneurship Promotion Center.
COSDF plans to build such a platform for entrepreneurs to seek projects and partners, and get guidance and policy information, Ma added.
At present, the over 200 Light Entrepreneurship projects largely come from the four industries of health and beauty, catering, education for all-around development, and life services, which are the fastest-growing, most in-demand and brightest industries for this model. Interest in it is extending to the fitness, travel and rural specialty industries.
By the end of 2015, nearly 4.04 million Chinese students had gone abroad to study, and 2.22 million had come back to China. The returned students are the main players in entrepreneurship. In order to better serve them, COSDF has mapped two plans -- the“Forty Thousand People”Plan and the Light Entrepreneurship for Ten Thousand Returned Students Plan.
