Han Linjun, engineer of Tsinghua Tongfang Artificial Environment Co., Ltd.
Han Linjun was born in Zhejiang province, which is very hot in summer and cold in winter. Perhaps for that reason Han has been interested in air-conditioning since he was very young.
He began studying at Tsinghua University, majoring in building environment and equipment engineering, in 2003. He researched refrigeration and heat pump equipment for both his master’s degree and doctorate. When he graduated with a PhD in 2014, Han joined the R&D center of Tsinghua Tongfang Artificial Environment Company to research and develop heat pump equipment.
Through that work, and in equipment manufacturing, he upgraded the equipment’s efficiency by 3.67 percent by improving air heat exchangers while maintaining costs. Han has applied for two patents for this achievement.
He visited many heat pump projects in Beijing, Hebei, Henan and Shandong and realized that energy conservation in heat pumps is not only related to machine design but also to that of the heat pump system, and its operation. Lack of awareness of this fact in the industry has lead to heat pump systems with low efficiency. Han developed an efficient operation plan based on a heat pump’s operational condition, leading to energy savings of up to 20 percent.
He has applied his new energy-saving design method to new company projects this year.
He is also the key researcher in a project on application of heat pump technology in shipping, where he is in charge of research and development of water-source heat pumps for ship use. The project is intended to solve the problems of oil return and corrosion of water-source heat pumps and save energy for ship operations.
Han is noted by his company’s leaders and colleagues for his work, enthusiasm and achievements. He was voted the most advanced employee in 2015. His contribution to heat pump technology is important for energy-saving in architecture and industry. Han intends to devote himself to the heat pump industry to further his contribution.
