Chang Sheng, engineer of Tsinghua Tongfang Energy Saving Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.
Chang Sheng is a pioneer in metro energy saving. He developed Techcon EEC, which is the only product offering energy saving and joint control in a metro system. He also developed the WMOD system for subway operation management and diagnosis. Under his leadership, the metro energy saving project of the Forest Park subway station was successfully completed, leading to an energy saving rate of 65 percent and receipt of the 2015 Intelligent Building Quality Engineering Award.
With the rapid development of China’s economy, urban subway construction is entering a peak period. Meanwhile, energy saving is becoming an issue in subway operations. Consequently, Tongfang Energy Saving Engineering Technology Co signed a contract with Beijing subway to help it save energy.
Chang Sheng was responsible for the project. He connected theory with engineering experience and analyzed the operations of subway stations, identifying effective ways to reduce energy consumption by up to 65 percent.
Tongfang Energy Saving Engineering Technology Company carried on implementing those savings along additional subway lines. Other cities then wanted to cooperate with Tongfang. Chang and his team developed Techcon EEC for subway energy saving, which can be easily used in any subway station and can provide a higher than average energy saving rate. Chang and his team communicated with subway operation companies around the country, and, by knowing their needs, developed the WMOD system for online subway operation management and diagnosis of energy consumption problems. They also cooperated with the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Tsinghua University to make more innovations, saving energy at from 200 to 300 additional subway stations.
Chang has also carried out research in heat networking energy saving and energy efficiency in buildings.
Chang Sheng was named a “Rising star” of the Tongfang digital city engineering center in 2014, and won the “Star employee” of Tongfagn Group in 2015.
The Techcon EEC system developed by him won the rail industry’s innovative product award in 2014; his energy saving project for the Forest Park station won the intelligent building quality engineering award in 2015.
