A summit on strategic emerging industry investment in Beijing's Shunyi District was held on Oct 24 at the Zhongjia Xinyuan Conference Center, with representatives of about 400 renowned enterprises and leading institutes in attendance.
Fourteen programs were agreed upon during the summit, ten of which are strategic emerging industrial programs including intelligent new energy automobiles, biological medicine products and new generation health treatments;these received investment of 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion). The other four projects related to innovation funds,attracting 50 billion yuan in funding.
The summit focused on new industries, new energy and the new economy, intending to better develop an innovation-driven strategy and promote development of strategic emerging industries to accelerate economic structural adjustment in Shunyi District.
At the summit, Sui Zhenjiang, deputy mayor of Beijing, said the district has seized the opportunities in the new round of global scientific and technical revolution and realized positive development. He wishes the district to hasten the process of industry transformation and upgrading, promote the integration of science, industry and finance and bring an upsurge of innovation to Beijing and perhaps across China.
A Beijing Shunyi intelligent new energy automobile ecological industry zone was inaugurated during the summit as well. The total planning area of the zone is ten square kilometers, including a research and development base, an automobile and service gathering area and a key compounds area.
The automobile zone will combine the six functions of design, intelligent manufacturing, financing, testing, innovation application and display and road use. So far, the zone has attracted 15 enterprises, including Tellus Power Group, a company focusing on solving problems such as heavy traffic pressure and overload grid through building an intelligent city and an industrial energy network.
Shunyi District intends to further integrate regional resources and take advantage of product chains and financing to build a demonstration zone that integrates ecology and innovation.
It is anticipated that by 2025 the district will be able to produce 300,000 new energy automobiles every year.
Gao Peng, deputy secretary of Shunyi District, stressed three features of the strategic emerging industry in Shunyi -- solid industrial bases, large carrying capacity and a positive development environment.
