About 13th Five-Year Plan

On Oct 26, 2015, the Fifth Plenum of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing. It released the 13th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China (the 13th Five-Year Plan). Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China,theChinese people have laid a firm foundation to accomplish the first Centenary Goal of comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society by 2020. The second Centenary Goal is to build a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced and harmonious. So,the new five-year plan is the decisive stage in finishing building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.It represents the home stretch to a moderately prosperous society.Building a moderately prosperous society meansridding strickenpopulations of povertyso they become better off, and tackling regional poverty.Amoderately prosperous society will not exist without targeted measures to help people lift themselves out of poverty. The plan anticipates thatChina will target "medium-high economic growth" in the five years from 2016.The country is aiming to double its 2010 GDP andtheper capita income ofboth its urban and rural citizensby 2020.
