Hosted by Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development and China Convention and Exhibition Society, the meeting attracted more than 2,000 participants, including MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions) representatives from home and abroad.
The three-day event focused on discovering more quality MICE tourism resources and features forum, exhibition, business negation, promotion and road shows.
"MICE tourism has become an important market that all major tourism cities worldwide are competing for, thanks to its long industry chain, strong growth momentum and strength to increase industry capacity," says Song Yu, head of the Beijing tourism commission.
At the moment, international conferences are mostly held in Beijing and Shanghai, but an increasing number of Chinese cities have been actively developing MICE tourism, Song adds.
Beijing hosted 524 international conferences during the 2011-2015 period, ranking first in Asia, according to the International Congress and Convention Association.
The capital will rely on globally influential events in future, such as the 2022 Winter Olympics, to bring in more MICE tourism opportunities.
