Fewer firecrackers on sale
Beijing will allow Spring Festival fireworks and firecrackers stalls to open for business from Jan 22 to Feb 1. The official announcement said there will be 511 stalls in the city in total, about 200 less than last year, and there will be no sales within the Third Ring Road. In case of heavy air pollution, the fireworks selling will be stopped.
Zigong to light up on Sunday
The 23rd Zigong International Lantern Festival will make the city in Sichuan province luminous beginning Jan 22 and continue through March. The major themes for the 130 groups of large-scale lantern installations are the Belt and Road Initiative, Year of the Rooster and traditional Chinese culture. The lantern show is listed as China's intangible cultural heritage.
Roll the dice with a rooster
Las Vegas will celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival with various activities, including culinary offerings and entertainment. From Jan 27 to 30, China's Sichuan Song and Dance Troupe and local troupes will perform together, with dragon dances to be held at 6 pm every day. Local hotels will have festive decorations such as red lanterns and roosters and offer authentic Chinese cuisine. Hong Kong-based musician Sam Hui will perform at The Venetian Las Vegas on Jan 28, with the late actor Bruce Lee's daughter Shannon Lee as a special guest.
Beijing hosts sculpture show
Sculptor Ding Hao's latest works are on show at the Opposite House in Beijing for three months. Ding's raw materials are wood and iron. He has his own understanding of space and structure. The 4.5-meter Tower of Babel is his representative work.
