Transport: Two rails to be built

China announced Monday it will spend US$22 billion to build two of the world's most ambitious railway-building projects the nation's second magnetic levitation train and a high-speed railway linking Beijing and Shanghai. (AP)

China Southern Airlines Co, one of China's three biggest carriers, said Monday it carried 3.43 million passengers in February, up 4.2 percent from the same month last year. The airline, based in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, reported a 21 percent increase in cargo volume to 48,820 metric tons from the same period last year. (AP)
