China's top science strategist said on Monday that China will
"undoubtedly" launch itself into the world's top five science powers within the
next 15 years. "In some areas we now have some advantages and we might be
among the top three,"Lu Yongxiang, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences
(CAS), said. (Xinhua)
China's State Council has issued an education plan to improve all the
people's scientific knowledge in the coming years toward 2020. "To improve
people's scientific knowledge is a basic social project of building an
innovation-oriented country," the outline said. (Xinhua)
The President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Yuri Osipov,
presented here Monday the first volume of a Russian Encyclopedia to the Chinese
Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), which is the international debut of the
voluminous book outside Russia. (Xinhua)
