In addition to warehouse supermarkets run by Carrefour, Wal-Mart and Metro,
Chinese mega-cities are in need of more groceries and chain stores in expanding

The third trade fair on economic cooperation of the Pan Pearl River delta
region will be held from June 6 to 10 in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's
Yunnan Province. (Xinhua)
Recently, METRO, the third largest retailer in the globe, convened a
conference on purchase details for suppliers of Beijing and North China in
Beijing.
At the conference, METRO announced that it intends to establish business
relations with 150 suppliers in Beijing and its purchase budget in the city will
reach 300 million yuan (US$37.5 billion) this year. 90% of its goods including
fresh meat products, fruits and vegetables will be purchased in Beijing.
