Spring auction: Rongbao Art Auction Co Ltd, a subsidiary of the 300-year-old art dealer Rongbaozhai, will be one of the first Chinese art auctioneers to hold its spring auction in Beijing. Before the auction, a preview will be held from May 10 to 12 at the Asia Hotel.

Super-sized sales: China Guardian Art Auction Co Ltd, said to be the largest art auction house in Beijing, will include thousands of traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings, ceramics, ancient books, classical furniture, stamps and coins at its upcoming spring auction. From May 31 to June 2, there will be a preview at the Kerry Centre Hotel.

Red art: Huachen Art Auction Co Ltd, one of the top art auction houses in Beijing, will present at its upcoming spring auction a number of 20th Century oil paintings, including so-called "red art" created during the "cultural revolution" (1966-76). A preview will be held from May 31 to June 2 at the Jingguang Centre in Beijing.

Anniversary sales: London-based Christie's spring auction of Chinese art is approaching. The event, held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of Christie's Hong Kong, is said to be the largest Chinese art sale ever held in Asia. A preview will be held from May 26 to 27 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

MacaO

Ancient bronze: The newly established Macao subsidiary of the Shanghai-based Chongyuan International Art Auction Co Ltd will have its first major auction, which will include more than 600 lots with a total value of 300 million yuan (US$37 million).

Ancient bronze works and 20th Century oil paintings will be highlights of the auction. A preview will be held at the Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre until today.
