Light Industry: Liquor auction donation (China Daily) Updated: 2006-05-10 14:34
Chinese leading liquor maker Wuliangye Group recently donated the takings
from an auction of a bottle of wine, 880,000 yuan (US$110,000), to Project Hope,
a national programme to help poverty-stricken children return to
school.
The liquor, which was specially made to mark the 90th anniversary
of the liquor brand winning a gold medal at the 13th International Exposition in
Panama in 1915, has been maturing for 90 years. The liquor has a gold cover and
gold lotus-shaped base.
The group sold another bottle of the same liquor
for 500,000 yuan (US$62,500) and made the donation to the project last
year. (For more biz stories, please visit Industry Updates)
