The project of Sino- Indonesian Friendship Village in Desa Nevhen, Aceh Besar regency of Indonesia's Aceh province, started on Thursday.

Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Lan Lijun, General Secretary of Aceh province Setia Budi and head of Aceh Baser regency DRS. H.A. Majid attended the foundation stone laying ceremony.

The Sino-Indonesian Friendship Village is part of the reconstruction projects in Aceh which was hit by the Indian Ocean tsunami on Dec. 26, 2004. The tragedy left more than 126,000 people dead and many others missing. Around 100,000 of the 500,000 people made homeless are still living in tents in the province.
