Auto: Small-engine cars popular

The climbing oil prices pushed up the sales of small-engine sedans in the first five months of this year, and Xiali posted the highest with 81,300 cars sold, Xinhua news agency reported today, citing China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

The sales of Elantra ranked second with 73,900, followed by Excelle (73,600), Jetta (68,600), Santana (68,200), QQ (56,300), Accord (53,400), Passat (47,100), Qiyun (46,500) and Corolla (34,700).

Sales from the top 10 models reached 603,600 in the period, accounting for 40.19 percent of all passenger vehicles. Six out of the top 10 are equipped with a small engine.
