The Ministry of Commerce said it will encourage agricultural export businesses to join credit insurance programmes to reduce risks, while governments will give financial assistance to companies utilizing credit insurance, the Xinhua News Agency quoted sources as saying yesterday.

At the end of 2005, more than 500 such companies paid premiums of US$1.44 billion. The ministry estimated the number of such companies will reach 1,000 by 2010.

Last year, 260 businesses got loans of 3.6 billion yuan (US$450 million) with the deposit of their insurance premiums.
