travel service providers eLong announced that its board of directors had elected
Barney Harford as chairman. Harford is one of Expedia Inc's representatives on
eLong's board. Expedia, the largest online travel company in the world, is
eLong's controlling shareholder, with approximately 52 per cent of the company's
equity. Harford is president of Expedia Asia Pacific and has been a board member
of eLong since August 2004.
Wei Zhe, chief executive of Kingfisher Plc's B&Q in China will join
Alibaba.com at the end of this year, the Shanghai Securities News reported,
citing Wei.Kingfisher has appointed Mariusz Gliweinski to succeed Wei, who
joined B&Q in 2000 and helped the company expand stores in China 10-fold to
50. Successor Gliweinski joined Kingfisher six years ago and was general manager
in Poland and Taiwan. Alibaba is China's biggest online retailer and the owner
of Yahoo! Inc's brand in China. Kingfisher is Europe's biggest home-improvement
