Macro: Hong Kong economy better

The Chinese University of Hong Kong Monday released a survey results showing that half of the interviewed local corporations thought the present economic situation is better than that in half a year ago.

The survey, Business Confidence in June 2006, was conducted during June 15 and July 20, in which chairmen or CEOs of 30 locally-listed enterprises were surveyed on the financial situation and profitability of the enterprises, and views about Hong Kong's present and future economic situation in a form of questionnaire.

The survey found that 50 percent of respondents thought the present economic situation is "better" compared to that of six months ago. 40 percent said "same as six months ago" and 10 percent thought "worse".
