China will authorize new flight routes to increase domestic and international flights ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to ease congestion and reduce delays, The Associated Press said today.

The proposed new routes include flights between Beijing and Japan, South Korea and Mongolia, a local newspaper said.

There are 186 flights each week between Beijing and Japan, and 154 flights between Beijing and South Korea, the newspaper said, citing China's General Administration of Civil Aviation.
